I created ‘Bespoke Ceremonies’ in 2007 after I was asked to be celebrant at wedding in a beautiful rural location in France.

Getting married abroad seemed a complex and bewildering process involving a good deal of bureaucracy and red-tape and so the happy couple opted for a quick registry office marriage in the UK, before enlisting me to create and conduct their dream wedding in the magnificent grounds of a fairytale Chateau in the French countryside.

It was then that I realised that unique, original and deeply personal ceremonies were impossible to come by. They were restricted to Religious traditions, registry office formality or secular variations which appeared rather nichely ‘New-Age’.

This seemed to be the same when it came to celebrating the lives of recently departed loved ones and memorials as well as renewal of vows, and the joyful welcoming of babies and infants into the world with naming ceremonies.

I am not attached to any belief, faith or philosophy and believe that spirituality and humanism are truly personal choices and do not have to form the basis of a profound and meaningful ceremony.

This is why I am a fully trained and accredited wedding celebrant with Humanists UK – this also means that I can conduct legally binding ceremonies in Scotland and Ireland. This is due to become law in England in shortly.
